Vancouver to give update on alcohol on beaches pilot program

The Vancouver Park Board and Vancouver Police will give an update Wednesday on the latest plan to allow alcohol consumption on some city beaches.

This is the second year of a pilot project after initially being introduced to a select number of beaches last year.

Following last year, both the Park Board and VPD flagged some issues, including those around public safety and the safe disposal of bottles.

As of June 1, Vancouverites will be able to legally have a beer, wine, or other alcoholic drink at Jericho Beach, Spanish Banks, Kitsilano Beach, Locarno Beach, Second Beach in Stanley Park, John Hendry Park at Trout Lake, and New Brighton Beach.
