Vancouver Fire crews knock down SRO fire in DTES

Vancouver Fire Rescue Services was in the city’s Downtown Eastside neighbourhood Monday morning, knocking down a fire at an SRO building.

Capt. Matt Trudeau told CityNews crews were called to the area near the corner of East Hastings Street and Gore Avenue around 7 a.m.

Multiple fire engines and logistics crews were on the scene working to extinguish the fire.

Trudeau explained teams worked quickly to knock down the blaze and no injuries were reported.

Vancouver Police Department officers were also in the area, with emergency crews reopening East Hastings to traffic just before 8:30 a.m.
