Police from Vancouver Island are investigating after a suspicious death on Texada Island Monday morning.
Texada RCMP says it received a call for service at a home on Para Street in the settlement of Van Anda, where officers found an elderly man had died.
Mounties say the 81-year-old man is believed to be a victim of homicide.
The RCMP’s Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit says it’s now been deployed to help with a homicide investigation.
Police say the investigation is in its early stages, but investigators believe it was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to community safety.

According to 2021 census data, Van Anda has a population of 362 people.
