Targeted North Vancouver shooting sends man to hospital in serious condition

Police in North Vancouver say a man in his 50s was targeted in an early morning shooting Friday.

The North Vancouver RCMP says at around 2 a.m., Mounties received reports of shots fired along East 29th Street between Tempe Glen Drive and Tempe Crescent.

Police say they received reports of “numerous shots and the sound of a vehicle driving away.”

“Upon arrival, police located a man in his 50s that sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital. The shooting victim, a North Vancouver resident, is in serious but stable condition,” Mounties said in a release Friday.

“This unsettling incident appears to be a targeted shooting,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak. “The active investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the North Vancouver RCMP Investigative Services Section. There is no threat to public safety.”

Mounties are urging anyone with information about the shooting, who has CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact the RCMP at 604-985-1311.
