Police in Coquitlam say a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted multiple women in the city has been arrested.
In an update on Wednesday, the Coquitlam RCMP says the man is now being implicated in a total of nine incidents where he is alleged to have “inappropriately touched women as they walked.”
The confirmation of an arrest comes after Mounties put out a call for help to identify the suspect just last week.
At the time, Mounties said they had received seven separate reports of an unknown man inappropriately touching women.
Five of the incidents took place on Dec. 4 and 5 in the Burquitlam area of the city. Two other incidents took place on Dec. 6 in Glen Park on Pipeline Road.
According to police, the man was arrested just days later on Dec. 8.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety of our community,” said Sgt. Karrie Ellis. “Public safety is our top priority and we will dedicate any needed resources to protect our residents from harm and bring those responsible before the courts.”
Police explain the investigation is ongoing.
