A suspect has been arrested and is facing charges after reportedly attacking someone with a glass bottle in a Burnaby park Saturday, Mounties say.
RCMP Corp. Mike Kalanj tells 1130 NewsRadio officers were called to Confederation Park around 1:30 p.m. where they located and detained the suspect and found the victim suffering from minor injuries.
“The suspect was transported to Burnaby RCMP detachment and will face an assault with a weapon charge,” Kalanj said.
In addition to the bottle, the victim was attacked with “other objects nearby,” he said. Posts on social media say the objects included metal poles from a pickleball net, but this has not been confirmed.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
