Vancouver police say one person is in custody after three people were allegedly assaulted at random downtown Sunday afternoon.
According to the VPD, officers responded to the area of West Georgia and Thurlow streets around 3:15 p.m. after reports that a 32-year-old woman pushed a 37-year-old mother to the ground and stole her phone. The mother was walking with her nine-year-old daughter at the time, police say.
Shortly after this incident, the VPD says someone was reportedly throwing rocks at a 33-year-old woman. Another person, a 57-year-old man, was also “assaulted with a piece of wood.”
Police say “the man was able to pin” the suspect down while other people called 9-1-1.
There’s no word on what prompted these incidents, with police noting the arrested woman remains in custody.
