Surrey teen hit by vehicle on way to school Monday morning

A teenager in Surrey was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road on their way to school Monday.

According to the Surrey Police Service, officers received calls about a youth being hit by a grey SUV along King George Boulevard at 64 Avenue around 8:45 a.m.

The SPS says the teen sustained “minor” injuries, however, the driver of the vehicle didn’t stay at the scene.

“At this time it remains under investigation,” the SPS said in an email to 1130 NewsRadio.

According to someone on social media claiming to be the teen’s mother, the 13-year-old was crossing the road at a marked crosswalk when he was hit.

“We are currently at the hospital, not sure of the damages. He is unable to move his left leg,” the mother shared on a public Facebook group.

“I am posting this in hope there was a witness, or the person driving the grey SUV that pulled out of the MacDonalds turning right towards South Surrey comes forward. The driver sped away really fast and if aware he hit my child.”
