The BC Highway Patrol is recommending charges after a semi-truck driver slammed into four parked cars in Port Coquitlam on Monday.
Police say they responded to calls of a semi-driving erratically on the Mary Hill Bypass. According to police, the driver allegedly crashed into the cars before officers arrived on the scene.
The BCHP is now recommending two criminal charges, with Corp. Michael McLaughlin calling it “unbelievable” that a professional driver would consider operating a vehicle of this size while impaired.
In addition to the two criminal charges, the 42-year-old driver had his driver’s license seized and is facing a 90-day driving prohibition.
The identity of the 42-year-old Surrey man will not be revealed until his first court appearance in Port Coquitlam in March 2025.
