Surrey RCMP seize cash, guns, cars from suspected drug traffickers

The Surrey RCMP says recent searches of four residences and a storage unit resulted in the seizure of drugs, firearms, vehicles, and over $100,000 in cash.

In a release Thursday, the Surrey RCMP Drug Unit announced that the execution of several search warrants led to raids and four arrests connected to a drug-trafficking group after months of investigation.

“In August 2023, Surrey RCMP Drug Unit initiated an investigation into a drug trafficking group that was believed to be operating out of Surrey,” said the release.

Police say one search took place in October last year, and four others took place in late January of 2024.

The locations searched include residences on 184 Street, 68 Avenue, and 152 Street in Surrey, and Kelly Avenue in Coquitlam, police say. A storage unit on Kingsway Avenue in Coquitlam was also searched.

Police say the list of items seized includes:

  • 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine;
  • 30 litres of GBL (GHB);
  • 1.5 kilograms of cocaine;
  • 430 grams of fluorofentanyl;
  • $116,000 cash;
  • Bulletproof vest;
  • Six firearms; and

Four vehicles, including:

  • 2024 Range Rover;
  • 2019 Acura RDX;
  • 2014 Dodge Durango; and
  • 2004 Ford F350.

“It is believed that this group was supplying street-level drug traffickers with cocaine, methamphetamine, fluorofentanyl, and GHB throughout Surrey, Langley, and Coquitlam,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha.

Police say the four people arrested were later released pending further investigation.
