Surrey police arrest allegedly armed suspect barricaded in a home Friday

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says a man who was allegedly armed with a gun has been arrested after barricading himself in a Guildford-area home.

Police say a woman reported being confronted by a man with a gun at the home, which is located near 106th Avenue and 140th Street, around 9 a.m.

He refused to come out of the home after police asked him to exit.

The man was arrested shortly after 11:00 a.m. and remains in custody.

A nearby school — Our Lady of Good Counsel — was put on a temporary “secure and hold” as police worked nearby. This was lifted after the suspect was arrested.

The SPS says members of the RCMP remained on scene after the arrest to investigate. Police say no firearms have been seized.
