The Surrey Police Service says a man is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Wednesday evening.
The SPS explains that the victim was hit around 5 p.m. near McBride Drive and King Road, just west of the Port Mann Bridge.
“The pedestrian, an adult man, was transported to hospital but later passed away. The driver remained at the scene of the collision,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said in a statement overnight.
Officers from the BC RCMP and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) were also called to assist the SPS and investigate.
“The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision,” Houghton added.
Police are urging witnesses or those with information about the crash to contact the SPS at 604-599-0502.
The SPS has not shared whether the vehicle’s driver may face criminal charges.
