Surrey firefighters from Engine 14 got to do something a little different Tuesday morning, rescuing several ducklings who found themselves stuck.
Surrey Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 1271 says crews received calls about the ducklings in a storm drain after “concerned bystanders reached out for assistance.”
“True to their dedication, our fire crews sprang into action, ensuring the safe rescue of every duckling,” the union said in a Facebook post.
“Moments like these remind us of the importance of community and the readiness of our team to respond, no matter the situation.”
Images shared by fire crews show seven ducklings swimming in the drain. An “after” shot of the rescue saw the ducklings helped to safety, being transported to a grassy patch near the drain.
“Here’s to making Surrey a safer and kinder place for all its inhabitants—feathered friends included,” the union added.
