Sticky situation: Terrace’s ‘Glue Bandit’ charged with mischief

A man in northwest B.C. known as the “Glue Bandit” is facing more than 20 counts of mischief.

Mounties in Terrace say they got multiple reports between Oct. 2023 and Feb. 2024 where the suspect put glue inside door locks, making them unusable.

Police say the suspect, 62-year-old Dale Boyd, then escalated to smashing the windows of businesses.

The man was arrested in March, at which time the RCMP said he had caused thousands of dollars of damage to businesses and commercial buildings.

He was initially charged with four counts of mischief, but this week, police forwarded another 22 charges of mischief to Crown counsel.

Boyd is set to appear in court Sept. 10. He won’t be locked up in the meantime.

Police are hoping the charges will stick.
