A man has been charged following an investigation into a shooting in Surrey last December.
Just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 16, Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers responded to a call from a woman saying she and her husband had been shot on 67B Avenue in Newton.
“In their car nearby, was a young child who was unharmed. Both victims have been taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton shared in a statement at the time.
In an update Wednesday, the SPS says it arrested a 21-year-old Squamish man on Jan. 15 in connection to the shooting.
“The investigation into the shooting was led by the SPOSU Serious Crime Unit and resulted in search warrants being executed at residences in Squamish, Delta, and Surrey,” SPS said.
The BC Prosecution Service have now charged the man with attempted murder, discharging a firearm, and aggravated assault.
The suspect is in police custody and will make his next court appearance Feb. 10.
