Anyone heading out of town this weekend should take note of a snowfall warning in effect on the Coquihalla Highway.
Snow, at times heavy, is expected between Hope and Merritt starting Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning.
A heavy rain system is moving along the B.C. coast, changing to heavy snow Saturday evening.
“The snow is expected to continue into Sunday morning,” Environment Canada said.
“Total snow accumulations near 20 cm can be expected before the snow tapers off to a few flurries.”
Drivers are advised to turn on their lights and use winter tires and chains.
Meanwhile, Highway 1 is closed in both directions between Revelstoke and Golden due to avalanche control.
