Police in Richmond are urging witnesses to come forward after a teen was critically injured after being hit by a car last week.
Just after 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, Richmond RCMP officers were called to River Road near the Richmond Olympic Oval after reports that a driver in grey Dodge Charger had struck a teen pedestrian.
Police say the driver was travelling east when he hit the teenager, who police claim was crossing mid-block.
“The pedestrian suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local area hospital, where he remains in critical condition,” Corp. Adriana O’Malley said in an update on Thursday.
O’Malley says the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. From its initial investigation, the RCMP does not believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
Mounties are now asking anyone who may has witnessed the collision, or who may have dash cam footage of River Road between No 2 Road and Gilbert Road between 4:10 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. to come forward to police and call 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2024-35686.
Police add the investigation is ongoing.
