Police seeking witnesses for North Vancouver hit-and-run

The North Vancouver RCMP is seeking witnesses after a two-vehicle crash became a hit-and-run last week.

Police say they received a call around 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 about a severely damaged silver Honda Civic on the Fern Street overpass.

At the scene, police say they spoke to the elderly driver, who said another car allegedly side-swiped her car, causing it to spin out and jump over the median.

Her car ended up on the oncoming lanes of the nearby overpass.

Officers say this happened in the westbound right lane, on Mount Seymour Parkway, heading towards the Fern Street overpass.

The woman was not hurt, but police say they found her in shock. The driver of the other vehicle did not stay on the scene.

“The elderly driver is on fixed income and we’re hoping to hold the driver responsible for the accident accountable,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for North Vancouver RCMP.

The North Vancouver RCMP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or knows the identity of the suspect vehicle to give them a call at 604-985-1311 and quote file #24-9912.
