A man has been killed after a late-night stabbing in the Surrey neighbourhood of Newton Wednesday.
The Surrey RCMP says police responded to a call about a fight along King George Boulevard near the 66A Avenue crosswalk just before 12 a.m.
Mounties say when officers arrived, they found a man with stab wounds.
“Despite life-saving efforts from both Frontline Police Officers and British Columbia Ambulance Service, the male was declared deceased at scene,” Snr. Sgt. Tyner Gillies said in a statement.
Police believe two people were involved in an “altercation,” which led to the victim being fatally stabbed.
“It is unknown if the two parties involved were known to each other prior to the incident, or what the motivation for the incident was,” Gillies added.

Police look to be centering their investigation around a bus stop just south of the 66A crosswalk. Two police cruisers and a white tent can be seen outside Options Hyland House Newton.
Police have not yet made an arrest in relation to the fatality. Police describe the suspect as being about 6 feet tall, clean-shaven, and has short, sandy blonde hair.
King George Boulevard between 64 Avenue and 68 Avenue was closed to southbound traffic while police investigated. The roadway reopened to traffic in both directions just after 8:30 a.m.
