A pod of orcas was seen swimming in the Vancouver Harbour, giving people around the waterfront a bit of a show Wednesday morning.
The Vancouver Police Department Marine Unit shared a video of the killer whales to social media.
“This pod of killer whales surfaced in Vancouver Harbour less than 400m from our vessel,” reads the post.
The attached video shows at least three orcas swimming together and cresting the water’s surface, with Vancouver’s skyline visible in the background.
An officer can be heard in the video saying, “it’s amazing, eh?”
The marine unit says officers set their boat’s engine to idle, and turned off its echo sounder, to maintain a safe distance from the animals.
