The BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) is seeking witnesses who may have driven past a fatal crash involving a pedestrian near Hope on Monday.
Mounties say they got a call about a man hit by a vehicle while walking west of Exit 165, Flood Hope Road along Highway 1 just before 1 a.m.
In a release Wednesday, Corp. Mellissa Jongema says the collision may have happened long before it was reported to the BCHP.
“Although the collision was reported at 12:59 a.m., police believe the collision occurred between midnight and 12:45 a.m.,” she said.
She says the pedestrian may have been seen walking on the side of the highway, after parking a motorcycle, before the crash happened.
The BCHP is asking any witnesses or those with dashcam footage travelling westbound or eastbound around the time of the crash to call (604) 702-4039 and refer to file 2024-32071.
