Pack a raincoat for this weekend’s events as showers on the way to the Lower Mainland

This weekend is jam-packed full of outdoor events all around the Lower Mainland, and if you’re planning on attending one, it might be best to pack a raincoat.

1130 NewsRadio Meteorologist Carl Lam explains that while there’ll be a dry start to Saturday, you should expect some rain.

“There are so many events going on this weekend across Metro Vancouver. We’ve got Rib Fest Langley, we’ve got the Festival of India, and the Richmond Art Walk, and so much more. But it is going to be kind of a toss-up of a weekend,” he explained.

“We’ll have dry conditions to start Saturday. We’re tracking some of that rain as we go into Saturday afternoon and evening.”

Lam says the steadiest of the rain will come Saturday afternoon and evening and into the early part of Sunday.

“For the second half of Sunday, it does start to improve as things start to clear out,” he added.

The rain coincides with the opening of the PNE Fair on Saturday. This year, in addition to family-favourite activities like the Superdogs show, the PNE is also debuting daily music in the park.

“Looks like the book ends of the weekend, Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon. Those are the best times for you to get out and enjoy everything that’s going on,” Lam explained.
