The North Vancouver RCMP is looking for the owner of a dog that allegedly bit a man last week.
Mounties say it happened on March 27, just before 7 p.m., in the area of Copping Street and Bewicke Avenue.
According to police, a man was out for a jog when he was bit by the dog, which was on a leash and being walked by a woman at the time. Police say the dog “lunged” at the man before biting him.
The man was taken to the hospital with what are described as serious injuries.
“The female, who was walking two dogs, was initially confronted by the victim but refused to provide her contact details and continued on with her walk,” investigators explained Wednesday.
Both of those dogs are described as Australian shepherds with brown, white, and black fur. The woman is described as being between 50 and 60 years old, 5’8″ tall, and was wearing a purple puffy jacket, black pants, and black shoes at the time.
Police say she was walking north on Bewicke Avenue near the train tracks.
The RCMP is hoping the public can help identify the dog owner, or that she will get in touch with police.
Mounties say dog owners are responsible for reporting dog bites to animal control, and exchanging contact information with whoever was bitten.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604- 985-1311 and quote file 24-5808.
