No injuries reported after SUV shot at in Surrey

The Surrey RCMP says it doesn’t appear anyone was hurt after shots were fired at a vehicle in Newton Saturday night.

Mounties explain reports of the shooting came in around 7:15 p.m. Aug. 17.

Investigators say a white SUV was heading south on 124 Street when “it was followed by a suspect vehicle, described as a silver Toyota Corolla.”

The SUV was then shot at in the intersection of 122A Street and 67A Avenue, Sgt. Tammy Lobb of the Surrey RCMP told 1130 NewsRadio Tuesday.

“Thankfully no one was injured during this act of violence,” she said.

Lobb says it’s “deeply concerning” that something like this happened in the community.

“Anytime we hear about acts of violence in our community, especially something like that that happened … early in the evening, a summer evening, where there could have been multiple people out in our community enjoying a summer night,” she explained.

Lobb could not share whether the driver of the SUV was known to police or whether there was anyone else in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The RCMP says investigators have been canvassing the area for CCTV footage and witnesses.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-122045.
