New Westminster police seek witnesses, footage after pedestrian hit by car

The New Westminster Police Department is seeking dashcam footage after a person on rollerblades was hit by a car.

Police responded to reports of a rollerblader struck by a driver at the intersection of McBride Boulevard and 6th Avenue, Friday at about 8:30 am.

When officers arrived, police say the pedestrian was receiving care from paramedics. The victim was later transported to hospital.

Police say the driver remained on scene and is cooperating, but investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the event or may have footage to come forward.

“We urge motorists who were driving through the intersection this morning to check their dash cam footage,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “Your dash cam may have captured something. Please check.”

Police have ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors in this crash. No updates have been provided on the condition of the rollerblader.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police at 604-529-2525 by phone or email VAU@nwpolice.org.
