If you were hoping to be one of the 12 people getting tattoos in exchange for a year’s supply of beer, you’re out of luck.
Steel and Oak Brewing Company, the New Westminster brewery holding the promotion, says the government has shut it down.
On Wednesday, the brewery on Quayside Drive announced it was offering 12 customers a year’s worth of free beer if they bought a branded tattoo. On Thursday, it called the contest off.
“Well this is a bummer,” said the brewery in on social media.
The post said the the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch had been in contact to say the brewery cannot legally trade beers for tattoos.
Steel and Oak says it still wants to encourage loyal customers to make a “forever decision,” but will have to “rethink how to do it without using the power of beer.”
