The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is looking for witnesses to a murder in Maple Ridge last week.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP says officers were called to the area of 232 Street and 132 Avenue for reports of “an unidentified female who was bleeding” around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, they found a woman with serious injuries.
Police say paramedics and firefighters were called, but despite the best efforts of first responders, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 3:30 p.m.
In a release Thursday, IHIT said investigators have identified the victim as a 58-year-old Maple Ridge woman named Christine Rogers.
It says it’s releasing Rogers’ name in an effort to learn more about the timeline leading up to her death.
IHIT says it’s collaborating with the BC Coroners Service, Integrated Forensic Identification Services, and the Ridge Meadows RCMP to canvass for video footage taken in the area at the time of Rogers’ death.

IHIT says preliminary information in the investigation indicates that the murder was an isolated event and there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
