Man who caused a fatal crash in Massey Tunnel sentenced in Richmond

The man who caused a fatal crash in the Massey Tunnel nearly four years ago was sentenced in Richmond Wednesday.

Sundeep Singh Mann was convicted at the Richmond Provincial Court of both dangerous operation causing death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The head-on crash in the Massey Tunnel on the morning of Sept. 2, 2020 damaged at least two vehicles, and left one person dead.

In a written statement, the BC Prosecution Service says a jail sentence of 2 years less a day followed by a 5-year driving prohibition was imposed on the dangerous operation causing death count.

On the dangerous operation causing bodily harm count, BC Prosecution Service says the court imposed a jail sentence of 18 months followed by a 5-year driving prohibition.

Mann will be serving a total of more than three years behind bars and a ten-year driving ban once he is released.
