Man arrested in East Vancouver bus fight

Vancouver police have arrested one man after violence broke out on a bus Tuesday evening.

Police responded to reports of an altercation on a bus that stopped at Commercial Drive and East 11th Avenue around 5:30 p.m.

Const. Amanda Steed with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police says another person was taken to a hospital due to their injuries.

“They were conscious, they were breathing, they were talking, they were able to speak with our officers when they arrived on scene,” said Steed, adding that the injuries were not life-threatening and no weapons were involved.

She says assault charges are being recommended against the arrested man. The reason for the fight is still under investigation.
