Police say a Langley man has died after drowning at Cultus Lake Saturday.
In a statement Monday, the Chilliwack RCMP said they were called to Entrance Bay at Cultus Lake with reports of a man that had “gone into the water and failed to resurface.”
“Bystanders in the area immediately began looking for the man but were unable to locate him,” Mounties said.
Chilliwack RCMP says Chilliwack Search and Rescue, The Cultus Lake Fire Department, and BC Emergency Health Services were also at the scene to assist in the search.
“An extensive search was conducted both on foot and by boat but the man was not located that day,” police said.
Police say the BC RCMP Dive Team was called on Sunday and was able to locate and recover the man’s body.
According to the BC Coroner Service, there were no indications of foul play.
RCMP says the man’s family has been informed.
“We have actively engaged our victim services team to support the family after this tragic incident,” said Cpl. Brett Urano, RCMP spokesperson.
