Langley child recovering after being hit by car

Mounties in Langley confirm a young child was hit by a car in Walnut Grove over the weekend.

According to the RCMP, it happened Sunday just before 4 p.m. in a residential neighbourhood along Telegraph Trail. Police say the child sustained some injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Corp. Zynal Sharoom says the injuries at this time don’t appear to be life-threatening or life-altering.

“I don’t have any further updates as to the status of the kid. I do know that he is recovering, I don’t know if he’s been discharged yet or not,” he told CityNews Monday night.

“At this time, we do not believe that there’s any criminality here and it appears that the child may have run onto the roadway after a ball.”

Sharoom says the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

The RCMP is asking anyone who was in or has video from the area of Telegraph Trail near 216 Street to contact police at 604-532-3200 and quote file 2024-11491.
