The last long weekend of the summer is here, and no matter where you might be in B.C., more than enough sun will shine your way.
1130 NewsRadio meteorologist Michael Kuss explains this time of the year has some of the nicest weather.
“Some of the best weather we often see all year is from late August into early September, as the shorter days and longer overnights allow it to cool down but daytime highs can still reach into the upper twenties,” Kuss said Friday.
And that’s no different from what’s expected this weekend.
“It’s all sun Friday and Saturday with highs as hot as 26 on Friday and 28 on Sunday,” Kuss said of Metro Vancouver.
And if you’re spending time by the water, Kuss says you’ll have a nice breeze. “A freshening westerly wind will keep temperatures in the low twenties close to the coast.”
Sunday will see the peak of the heat, Kuss says, with Monday to bring slightly more cloud cover, but still warm at 24 degrees.
For those heading to the Interior, the temperatures will heat up across the weekend.
“It’s going to be incredibly hot in the Interior, especially around Kamloops, where highs will climb into the mid-thirties into early next week,” Kuss said.
And if you’re heading to the Sea to Sky region, it’ll be all sun with highs close to 30 for Whistler and Squamish on Saturday and Sunday.
