Interior Health extends Lillooet Hospital ER closure by one day

The Interior Health Authority of B.C. is advising Lillooet and area residents that the emergency department will continue to be closed for another day.

In a release Wednesday, the health authority says instead of opening Lillooet Hospital on Thursday morning, the ER will now open on Friday, Aug. 23 at 8 a.m. because of limited physician availability.

Patients are being asked to access care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

The health authority says people who need life-threatening emergency care should continue to reach out to 911 for transport to the nearest hospital.

Inpatient services will continue as normal at Lillooet Hospital.

Anyone who is not sure whether an ER visit is required can call HealthLink BC at 811 or visit www.healthlinkbc.ca for non-emergency health information 24 hours a day.
