IHIT investigating North Vancouver deaths after 2 people fall from 9th-floor balcony

The North Vancouver RCMP says homicide investigators are looking into an incident in which two people fell off a ninth-floor balcony in the Lower Lonsdale area Tuesday.

At around 4:30 a.m., Mounties say they responded to reports of the falls at an apartment complex on East Esplanade Avenue.

Officers reportedly arrived to find two females suffering from injuries sustained from the fall. Police did not disclose the victims’ ages.

“First responders, including fire and BC Ambulance Service, immediately began lifesaving measures. Sadly, the two females were later pronounced deceased,” the RCMP said.

Police say the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation.

“So at this point, the investigation IHIT is in its early stages and the gathering phase any further information will be provided by hit, and their team,” Const. Mansoor Sahak told 1130 NewsRadio.

He was not able to share whether investigators had identified a suspect.
