Homicide team investigates ‘sudden death’ in Maple Ridge

The death of a man in Maple Ridge two months ago is now being investigated as a potential homicide.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced Wednesday that it had assumed conduct of the investigation into the death of 42-year-old Kristoffer Rich Ong, who was found dead in the area of 224 Street and 124 Avenue on June 8.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP was called to that area for a report of a “sudden death” just before 2 p.m. No details around the cause of Ong’s death have been provided.

“We’re releasing Kristoffer’s name in hopes that those out there who had recent contact with him, will reach out and help us develop a timeline of his activity leading up to his death,” said Corp. Chase Smith, of IHIT.

IHIT is asking anyone with information about Ong to contact the Information Line at 1-877-551-4488 or ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
