Fatal crash closes Hwy 99 northbound in Surrey

An early morning crash along Highway 99 in Surrey has killed one person, the Surrey RCMP says.

Police have closed the highway northbound, north of King George Boulevard, as they investigate.

Police say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, when officers received reports of the single-vehicle crash.

“Sadly, one of the occupants has been declared deceased at [the] scene,” Sgt. Alan Windover said in a statement.

Traffic is being detoured via King George to Highway 10 until further notice. Mounties are asking the public to avoid the area.

Mounties are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage in the area of Highway 99 and King George in the time leading up to the crash to contact police at 604-599-0502 and quote file 24-100747.
