Fatal car crash in Surrey, says RCMP

Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision that sent two people to hospital and killed one in Surrey’s Cloverdale neighbourhood.

The Surrey RCMP were called to the fatal car crash just after 4:30 p.m. on Monday along Highway 10 at the intersection of 56 Avenue and 184 Street.

“An Acura Sedan was westbound on Highway 10, executing southbound [and took a] left-turn onto 184th street, when it was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup travelling eastbound,” Mounties said in a release.

RCMP says the crash caused “significant damage” to both vehicles.

Mounties say the drivers of the Acura and the Dodge Ram were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

However, they say a passenger of the Acura suffered “catastrophic injury” and was declared dead at the scene by BC Emergency Services.

“All parties remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation,” RCMP said.

Police say alcohol has been ruled out as a contributing factor in the accident.

The investigation is in its early stages and police are still on the scene.

RCMP says anyone with footage of the collision is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-75498. If the public wishes to stay anonymous, the police is asking them to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or go online at www.solvecrime.ca.
