ECCC issues alert for ‘heavy’ rainfall overnight

If you were waiting for Tuesday’s rain to clear from Metro Vancouver, you will have to weather an overnight storm first.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a rainfall warning Tuesday morning, saying a frontal system is bringing heavy rain to especially northern regions of Metro Vancouver.

Up to 50 millimetres of rain is expected to fall in the North Shore and Metro Vancouver area by Wednesday morning.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” the ECCC warned.

ECCC says rain will begin to ease Wednesday morning.
