Almost 40 people have been displaced after an early morning fire in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services crews were called to reports of the fire just before 2:45 a.m. Wednesday after reports of an apartment suite on fire.
When crews arrived, they found a number of suites engulfed by the flames.
A number of residents were trapped on their balconies and had to be rescued by firefighters, VFRS says. Five people sustained minor injuries in the blaze, with up to another three sustaining more serious injuries.
VFRS says a number of elderly people needed help to vacate the building.

The fire damaged at least four or five suites, however, almost 40 people will be without their homes while crews assess the damage, the VFRS says.
