EA Sports is out with its annual Stanley Cup Playoff Simulation, and depending on what your experience was, it’ll either bring back some nauseating memories or give you something to look forward to.
The gaming company is projecting the Vancouver Canucks will reign supreme and win Lord Stanley’s Cup. The opponent? None other than the Boston Bruins, harkening back to the fated 2011 match up, when the Canucks fell to the Bruins in Game 7 of the Final.
In this year’s simulation, EA says the Canucks will win the series 4-3.
Of course, this is just a simulation, and the last time EA picked the Canucks, it didn’t go quite as planned.
EA made a similar prediction before the 2011 Final, sticking with the Canucks over Boston in what was expected to be a “tight series that goes the distance,” according to the NHL. The league said EA’s simulation had the Canucks winning 3-1 in Game 7.
However, as we would find out, the outcome was quite different. Vancouver was defeated by Boston 4-0 in Game 7 of the Final on June 15, 2011.
