The Kelowna RCMP says its officers stopped an impaired driver who collided with a police vehicle and attempted to drive away over the weekend.
On Saturday, May 4, police say a 53-year-old woman backed her SUV into the cruiser while officers were assisting paramedics nearby on Lawrence Avenue.
Officers stopped the driver “immediately” after she tried to leave after officers noted she may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver refused to take a breathalyzer test, police say. Her car was then impounded for 30 days and she received a 90-day driving prohibition, as well as a $500 fine.
The RCMP says it was one of five impaired driving incidents investigated that weekend in the Okanagan region.
