Defibrillator stolen from Port Moody Recreation Complex

Port Moody police claim someone stole a defibrillator from the city’s Recreation Complex.

Police believe the theft happened some time in the past couple of weeks, but it was reported Wednesday after staff at the facility noticed an Automated External Defibrillator — or AED — had been taken from its container in the arena lobby.

The Port Moody Police Department is now investigating the theft of the device which is valued at more than $2,000.

“It is really troubling that someone would steal a device which serves such an important purpose for our community,” said Const. Sam Zacharias. “We are asking anyone who has information about this theft to contact us, or Crime Stoppers should they wish to remain anonymous.”

The department can be reached by calling 604-461-3456 or emailing tips@portmoodypolice.com.
