BC Ferries ship runs into boats at Bowen Island marina

A ferry heading to the mainland from Bowen Island Sunday morning was taken out of service after it collided with a dock and some nearby boats.

BC Ferries says the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. near Snug Cove.

“The Queen of Capilano made contact with the dock and neighbouring vessels tied up at the marina,” read a statement from the company.

There were no injuries, and BC Ferries says it’s working with the marina and boat owners to figure out how bad the damage was.

“We are investigating whether this was due to wind conditions, a mechanical issue, or a combination of factors.”

The vessel was reportedly back in service Sunday evening.
