B.C. woman who travelled to Syria to join ISIS charged with terrorism offences, says RCMP

The BC RCMP says it has arrested and charged a woman with terrorism related offences.

Mounties say the charges against Kimberly Polman relate to an ongoing criminal investigation into her leaving Canada in 2015 and travelling to Syria to join ISIS.

Police say Polman, a resident of Squamish, is facing two charges: one for leaving Canada to participate in a terrorist group, and a second for participating in terrorist group activity.

In October 2022, Polman was repatriated back to Canada and was put on a series of bail conditions.

Since Nov. 7, 2023, she has been subject to a Terrorism Peace Bond.

Polman will make her next appearance in Vancouver Provincial Court on Aug. 2.

The RCMP says citizens should remain diligent and report any information related to terrorism or suspicious activity to the National Security Information Network at 1-800-420-5805, online at www.rcmp.ca/report-it, or to local police.
