Two young men are recovering from their injuries after a violent assault at a park in Surrey on Sunday.
The Surrey RCMP says officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a park near Scott Road and 70 Avenue shortly after midnight on Sept. 8.
Police found two victims, an 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, who had allegedly been assaulted.
Mounties say the victims were both taken to hospital.
“The 18-year-old man was treated and released, and the 22-year-old man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries,” police said in a statement Tuesday.
The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has taken over investigating the incident and is canvassing the area for CCTV footage.
“Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on September 8, 2024, to call police,” said Const. Parmbir Kahlon.
He says police believe someone must have heard something suspicious around the time of the incident.
