1 man dead after fire at Surrey home

The Surrey RCMP says a man has been found dead after a fire at a residence Sunday night.

Mounties say police received reports of the fire at a home on 128 Street between 58 and 56 avenues in the city’s Panorama Ridge neighbourhood just before 9:45 p.m.

Police say the occupants of the residents had evacuated by the time they arrived, except for one person in a secondary suite.

“Surrey Fire Department located a man in the secondary suite, who did not survive. The identification of the deceased person has not been confirmed; therefore,
no additional information regarding the victim is being shared,” the RCMP said Monday.

Police say they’re working with the fire department to determine the cause of the fire, however the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

The BC Coroners Service has now taken over the investigation into the man’s death.

Police are now asking that anyone who many have seen the fire and have not yet spoke to police to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502
and quote file 24-67448.
