1 arrested, 1 in hospital after stabbing in Surrey

A man is in custody after a stabbing in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood Wednesday morning.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it was called to 73 Avenue near 130 Street shortly before 10 a.m. by the victim of the alleged stabbing.

While waiting for paramedics, officers reportedly tended to the victim’s multiple stab wounds in the arm. The SPS says the victim was transported to hospital, where they remain with serious injuries.

Police say other officers were able to locate a suspect and arrested a man “without incident.”

During their search, Princess Margaret Secondary School was placed in a temporary “hold and secure” lockdown. Police say that lockdown has since lifted.

130 Street, between 73 and 74 avenues, remains shut down as of Wednesday afternoon as police investigate.

The SPS is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage to please call 604-599-0502.
