The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is inviting those who live, work and play in Kitsilano and Fairview to help design a new neighbourhood park.
From September 26 to October 15, we invite the public to help shape the future of Burrard Slopes Park, located between Pine and Fir streets, and West 5th and 6th avenues.
We want to hear from residents and visitors on the site’s existing amenities and what opportunities a new park can bring to the community. The input we receive will help inform a draft concept plan for the park, which the public will have the opportunity to review in spring 2024.

Project background
The project currently known as Burrard Slopes Park will provide much-needed additional green space for two rapidly growing neighbourhoods.
In 2020, VanPlay, the Park Board’s Parks and Recreation Services Master Plan, highlighted that Fairview and Kitsilano are among the neighbourhoods least served by parkland per resident, compared to the Vancouver average.
The project area includes a portion of the Arbutus Greenway, 2 small parks, and 4 buildings set for removal. Once completed, the park space will double in size.
An official park name for Burrard Slopes Park will be identified and announced through a separate naming process.
Pine Street Community Garden
In 2021, the Park Board approved the updated Local Food System Action Plan, a 5-year plan to implement a more sustainable, just and decolonized local food system across Vancouver.
Guided by the recommendations in the plan, we will work closely with the Pine Street Community Garden and other neighbourhood groups on the relocation and redesign of the existing community garden. We recognize the vital contribution members have made to the ecological life of the area and look forward to cultivating this important community space.
The Broadway Plan
Burrard Slopes Park falls within the Broadway Plan area. The Broadway Plan, along with other policies and feedback gathered through the Burrard Slopes Park planning process, will guide design decisions for the park.
