Intrepid seagoers set sail on self-reliant Race to Alaska

The annual 1,200-kilometre Race to Alaska began in earnest on Wednesday, with sailors and kayakers aiming to be the first to make it from Victoria to Ketchikan, Alaska. Competitors in the race — who must be self-reliant and use a non-powered boat — showed CBC their variety of vessels and shared what makes the event race so special.
