Deaths of 2 women near Vancouver’s English Bay not connected: VPD

The deaths of two women, whose bodies were recently found near Vancouver’s English Bay, are not connected, police say.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says Tuesday that they have identified the women and informed their families, but declined to release their names.

Police also say their investigations are still ongoing into the deaths.

The first woman’s body was discovered around 10 a.m. PT Sunday at Sunset Beach, which is located in the downtown peninsula.

VPD says they have confirmed her identity earlier Tuesday, but haven’t been able to determine her cause of death.

The second woman was found on the shoreline near the Kitsilano Yacht Club around 1:30 p.m. PT Monday.

VPD says that they have identified her Tuesday evening, and that they don’t suspect criminality in her death.

Police added that they will not share information about her going forward, out of respect for the woman’s loved ones.

“These deaths have shocked and unsettled the community, and they have led to many questions that we are now beginning to answer,” Sgt. Steve Addison said in a Tuesday press release.

Police are asking anyone with more information to contact them at 604-717-2500.
